In classical ballet, ballet skirts can be divided into two categories:

1. Tutu skirt

Tutu is one of the most iconic dance skirts in classical ballet. It is characterized by its extremely short body, no more than knees in length, and is spread out from the waist. It is short, with multiple layers of silk cloth. Generally, it uses more than six layers of yarn, which is layered. Tutu is made of special hard yarn and looks like a pancake. Aesthetically, it is very regular and symmetrical.

However, the work that made Tutu ascend to the altar and reach the peak was the Swan Lake that everyone was most familiar with. Later, whenever people talked about ballet, they would think of the white swan in the white pure Tutu dress and the black swan in the black enchanting Tutu dress.

2. Long skirt

The long skirt is an elephant characteristic dance skirt of romantic ballet. The dance skirt is composed of multi-layer gauze, and its skirt almost reaches to the ankle, forming a pendant bell shape. Generally, it is dominated by light colors. When dancing, the skirt yarn will swing with it, which makes it flexible and elegant, giving people a sense of floating and flying visual beauty.

The romantic long skirt, with the most gentle color, gives people a dream like feeling. Whether it is "Fairy" or "Romeo and Juliet", or even "Serenade", the work of Balanchine's time, all express the beauty of ballet incisively and vividly.
