Shangba "Shanghai Ballet Season" kicks off

In the hot August, Shanghai Ballet's "Shanghai Ballet Performance Season" launched five works of "Phantom of the Opera", "White Haired Girl", "Swan Lake", "La Traviata Girl" and "In the Mood for Love", which were staged in turn at the Shanghai International Dance Center, Shanghai Cultural Square, Beijing National Grand Theater and Henan Art Center. Within a month, 14 performances of 5 grand plays in three cities showed the vitality of Shanghai-style ballet.

Xin Lili, the artistic director of Shanghai Ballet, introduced that "Phantom of the Opera" and "La Traviata" are neoclassical ballets, both from classic IP, "Swan Lake" is the pinnacle of classical ballet, "In the Mood for Love" is modern ballet, and there are pioneering works of Chinese ballet such as "The White-Haired Girl", which was born 60 years ago. "The diverse works confirm the tireless pursuit and innovation of Shanghai Ballet in art, and also let the industry see the emergence of performing talents in Shanghai Ballet."

On Aug. 2, Wu Husheng, the lead principal and deputy head of the Shanghai Ballet, made his debut in the season, playing "The Phantom" in "The Phantom of the Opera," a role tailor-made by the famous British choreographer Derek Dean. In addition to "The Phantom," he will also play the male lead Armand in "La Traviata."

Qi Bingxue, the lead lead performer of the Shanghai Ballet, will lead the audience into the world of ballet on the tips of their feet in all five dramas, from "Christine" and "La Traviata" to "Ojetta/Augilia" and from "Xi'er" to "Mrs. Wang".

Xu Jingkun, a dancer born in the 2000s, became the ninth generation of the Shanghai Ballet's "Dachun". When he first started dancing this role, the rehearsal teacher once said that he was wrong. Having been dancing classical ballet throughout his studies, he has been groping for a long time about how to jump out of the national style and the spirit of "Dachun". "I have repeatedly studied the videos of the first generation of'Dachun 'teacher Ling Guiming, and passed down the" White-haired Girl "from them. It is a red gene and a belief, hoping to make more young people cherish the current life more."
