The ballet "Red Detachment of Women" premiered in 1964 is a model of the successful integration of Eastern and Western culture and art, and a milestone work in the history of Chinese ballet creation. The ballet perfectly integrates Western ballet with traditional Chinese opera, classical dance, Li folk dance and army drills, creating a new dance vocabulary that belongs to Chinese national ballet. The ballet has not only successfully created the image of the Chinese Women's Detachment "wearing pointed shoes" of women and men, but also bloomed a dazzling flower of national ballet art in the world dance scene.

When the familiar melody sounded, the audience was moved. In order to fully display the characteristics of the national style, the dance music added elements of traditional national instruments such as sheng, small gong, pipa, and Zhongruan to the symphony, borrowing from the melody of folk songs with local characteristics, and breaking the stereotypes of ballet "mime" in the form of singing and dancing.
