From May 15th to 19th, the world's top ballet dancer Svetlana Zakharova, the "beauty" in the hearts of world ballet lovers and the "Z baby" loved by Chinese audiences, will join hands with the chief dancer of the Moscow Grand Theater on the stage of the Shanghai Grand Theater, bringing the double one-act dance "The Legend of Chanel" and "Pointe Love Strings", which combines music and dance, to open the tour with the Shanghai premiere of two sets of dance codes. The first stop of the Chinese mainland. Among them, Zakharova will share the stage with the famous violinist Vadim Repin in "Pointe Love Strings", bringing the Chinese mainland premiere and the only stop of the performance, presenting an exclusive artistic dialogue between bow strings and toes for the Shanghai audience.
Born in 1979, Svetlana Zakharova has shown a high talent for dance since childhood. At the age of 17, she joined the Mariinsky Theatre Ballet, known as the "Ballet Aircraft Carrier", and became the principal dancer in the second year of joining the company. Since 2003, she has joined the Bolshoi Theatre Ballet as the principal dancer, and has since been awarded the titles of Meritorious Artist of Russia and People's Artist.
At the opening ceremony of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Zakharova starred in the ballet "Natasha Rostova's First Ball", which caught the world's attention for its beauty and accurate interpretation of the characters of Leo Tolstoy. "This was the largest performance of my career so far, with about 50,000 audience in the stadium, and billions of people around the world watching it live." Now recalling this unforgettable moment, Zakharova still feels mixed feelings. "On the one hand, I feel happy because the performance was very successful, and on the other hand, I feel melancholy. Maybe I will never have the opportunity to see so many people in our ballet again."
Also in the same year, Zakharova first came to Shanghai, and at the closing performance of the 2013-2014 season of the Shanghai Grand Theater, "Mona Lisa Kiss", the night of the world's ballet stars, she brought her tailor-made solo dance "Unreachable Love", which attracted a large audience with impeccable technical beauty.
Now back in the city that impresses her, Zakharova will bring the premiere and only stop of "Pointe Love Strings" in the Chinese mainland, as well as the new fashionable ballet and double single-act dance drama "The Legend of Chanel".
The double one-act "Chanel Legend", which will be performed on May 15-16, consists of "Like Breathing" and "The Legend of Chanel". Among them, "The Legend of Chanel" is a perfect fusion of ballet, music and fashion: Composer Ilya Demetsky, Choreographer Yuri Posokov, Director and Screenwriter Alexei Flandetti create a living legend about the life and work of Coco Chanel, a global fashion legend. The work tells the story of the famous costume designer's upbringing through several scenes: her beginnings as a young cabaret singer, some of her early successes, her ties to and subsequent work for the Russian Ballet, her friendship with Sergey Diaghilev, and her love affair with the English polo player Arthur Edward "Boy" Capel.
"This is a ballet from scratch," Ms. Zakharova said frankly. "It is a condensation of Coco Chanel's life. In the process of writing and performing, I have discovered more about this great woman." It is reported that Zakharova's costumes in the performance are supported by Chanel.
And on May 18-19, "Pointe Strings" starring Zakharova and the Repins will bring an ultimate romantic artistic spark. Born in 1971, Repin, like Zakharova, is famous at a young age and is the youngest laureate in the history of the Queen Elizabeth Competition. Repin is also a close friend of pianist Lang Lang, who invited the Russian violinist to perform together on his debut chamber music album.
Mr. Repin said that the "Pointe Strings" performance was inspired by a proposal from a Swiss festival curator: "At first, we had our own favorite programs and performances, and we didn't think about it very seriously. After the perseverance of our friends, we decided to give it a try when we were walking and chatting on the shores of Lake Geneva."
"Pointe Love Strings" weaves the elegance of Zakharova's dance with the delicacy and affection of Repin's violin performance, presenting an original half-concert and half-dance performance. "It's a one-piece work, from'Apocalypse ',' Death of the Swan 'to'Dance of the Elves', when Zakharova changes clothes, I will use high-difficulty performances to focus the audience's attention on the stage." In addition, Repin also revealed that some adjustments will be made for the Shanghai audience in the selection and interpretation of the repertoire, "because there is a new stage and a new audience here, we hope to bring some surprises."
